Peter Rogosky began playing guitar at age 14 while a freshman at Holy Name High School in Reading, PA. After High School he attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown where he received an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology. Upon graduating he began work in the electronics field while playing in rock bands on the weekends. He also played blues and folk music and studied guitar with David Cullen. During this time he opened for Doc and Merle Watson and Tom Paxton as part of a duo with Michael Kane. A short time later he discovered jazz and began studying with multi-instrumentalist, Ken Gehret and the late Thomas Fessler for piano and music theory.
After a few years of working in the electronics industry, Peter made the decision to pursue his dream of being a professional musician. He resigned from his position at AT&T at age 24 to go into music full-time. Shortly thereafter, he moved to New York City where he studied with Leni Stern and also took lessons with John Abercrombie and Wayne Krantz. After a couple of highly educational years in NYC, Pete moved back to Pennsylvania to accept an offer for steady work with a band led by Fred Moreadith (who he still works with today) and to network into the PA jazz scene. He continued his jazz studies during this time with noted jazz guitarist, Steve Giordano, from Philadelphia.
Pete has performed with many bands over the years including 15 years (off and on) with the Joey Roberts Dance Band out of Philadelphia. He also has toured parts of Europe with the Three Degrees. He has played with Steve Varner, John Riley, Tim Warfield, Bob Meashey, Larry McKenna, Simone (daughter of Nina Simone), Cliff Starkey, The Drifters, The Reading Symphony and many others. Pete has also led a jazz quintet that included Philadelphia greats, Bob Howell on sax, Dave Posmontier on piano, and Chico Huff on bass.
Currently Pete is focused on songwriting and family life while working full-time in a steel mill and playing occasionally with the Dance Hall Docs, a ten-piece horn band.
